Announcing General Availability (GA) of Microsoft Dataverse Search integration with Microsoft Power Pages

We are excited to announce the General Availability (GA) of Microsoft Dataverse Search integration with Power Pages that was introduced in December 2021 as a preview feature.

Microsoft Dataverse search API delivers comprehensive search results by relevance.  Dataverse search is the same search service used by model-driven Power Apps and other Power Platform services built on Microsoft Dataverse.

We are now bringing the ability to use the same search service with Power Pages global search

Better understanding with an intelligent search

Power Pages powered by Dataverse search service allows you to securely search across your data in Dataverse tables and also applies AI technology for intelligence. Moving forward, search results improve over time, thus making it easier to find the data you’re looking for. Here are some of the intelligence capabilities that are available for Power Pages.

Spelling check – If a search query is misspelled, search will attempt to find close matches based on what was typed.

Example 1: “Almod” returns result for “Almonds”.

Recognizing common abbreviations and acronyms – Search will recognize common abbreviations and acronyms in search queries. The abbreviations and acronyms support will grow over time.

Example 2: “corp” returns result for “Corporation”.

Example 3: “MS” returns result for “Microsoft”.

Dataverse search based global search is enabled by default

Starting with website version 9.4.4.xx, Power Pages search uses Microsoft Dataverse search to deliver results for all new websites created on this version.
Existing websites will continue to use Lucene .Net based search. You can enable Dataverse search for existing websites by using site setting Search/EnableDataverseSearch to true.

Going forward our global search feature investments will be based on the Dataverse search API and hence we encourage you to enable the new search feature for your websites and start using them now.

For search configuration and details, see the documentation.
